Sumac is made from carefully harvested sumac berries, naturally dried and finely ground. This process preserves its tangy aroma and vibrant red color. Perfect for acidity in dishes. Long before lemons reached Europe, the Romans imported Sumac from Syria to use as a souring substance. The spice is mainly used in Lebanese, Turkish, Syrian and Iranian cuisine. Much like salt, sumac enhanceds the flavours of food to which it is added. Sprinkle sumac as a garnish over finished dinishes for maximum taste.
