About Serander

Hi, I'm Gültaç.

I was born and raised in Istanbul, and today I call Berlin home.

Food was always at the centre of our lives. Some of my earliest memories are of long evenings around the family table, where meals were never rushed and conversations often lasted longer than the food itself. Friends, neighbours, and relatives were always welcome, and the kitchen was usually the busiest room in the house.

For generations, my family has worked in the food business. What began as a small trading company founded by my father and uncle gradually grew into a food company serving customers across Turkey. Growing up in this environment taught me where ingredients come from, what makes them truly good, and why quality should never be taken for granted.

In 2001 Serander was founded by my fmaily in Turkey with a simple mission: to bring genuinely fresh, high-quality spices into restaurants, shops, and home kitchens. Today, it is a trusted spice brand across Turkey.

My own path took a different direction, but the passion never left me. I spent years researching food systems and agriculture, yet my relationship with food has always remained personal.

When I think of home there is one dish that takes me back every single time: mantı topped with sizzling butter, pul biber, and dried mint. The moment the butter touches the spices, the aroma fills the room. Even today, that smell takes me straight back to my mother's kitchen.

That is what great cooking does. It doesn't just feed you, it takes you somewhere. And spices are often what make that possible.

When I moved to Germany, I found myself doing something many people living abroad will recognise: every time I visited Turkey, I came back with a suitcase full of spices. No matter how much I searched, I could rarely find the same freshness, aroma, and depth of flavour I had grown up with.

Over time, a simple question kept returning:

Why should these spices only be available in my own kitchen?

That question became the beginning of Serander in Germany.

Today, we bring the spices my family has trusted for years from Turkey to homes across Germany and Europe. My hope is simple: that they help create memorable meals, meaningful moments, and new traditions around your own table.

Because a table shared with good food and people you love is one of life's greatest pleasures.
